Shipped a full-stack job application toolkit with zero-auth guest ATS scoring in ~60 seconds, domestic monetization via Razorpay, and a companion Chrome extension.
02. Core Constraints
- Signup Friction: Job seekers abandon tools behind mandatory auth walls before seeing value. ATS scoring had to work immediately for guest file uploads.
- Storage Overhead & Privacy: Unauthenticated guest resume files cannot sit indefinitely in cloud storage without exploding costs and privacy risk.
- Payment Friction: Subscription billing experiences high churn for price-sensitive job seekers in India. A friction-free one-time pass model was required.
03. Three Key Decisions
1. Zero-Signup Guest Scoring Pipeline with 24h Auto-Expiry
Engineered a serverless document parsing pipeline that extracts text from PDF and DOCX formats, maps keywords against standard ATS patterns, and returns a detailed score breakdown in ~60 seconds without prompting for an email or account. Guest scan records automatically purge after 24 hours.
2. One-Time Razorpay Access Passes (₹299 / ₹499)
Integrated Razorpay for localized payments (UPI, Netbanking, Cards) offering discrete one-time passes instead of recurring subscriptions. Users unlock resume tailoring and cover letter generation without the barrier of recurring card mandates.
3. Manifest V3 Chrome Extension Bridge
Built a companion Chrome extension that syncs with the user's saved profile to populate application data and surface tailored resume points directly inside external job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed, company portals).
04. Tradeoffs Made
Accepted lower theoretical customer lifetime value by using ₹299 / ₹499 one-time passes instead of recurring subscriptions, in exchange for immediate checkout completion among price-sensitive users. Sacrificed repeat guest convenience by purging files after 24 hours to eliminate long-term file storage costs.
